On September 13, 1901 — 1901 – The Baltimore Orioles edge the A’s, 12 – 10. In the 9th, the A’s have the tying runs on base with two out when Connie Mack sends up pinch-hitter Doc Powers to bat for Nap Lajoie, who is sulking and refuses to hit. Powers flies out to end the game.
