On July 21, 1926 — At Shibe Park, Tris Speaker hits his 700th career double in the Indians’ 6 – 0 win over the Athletics. In the top of the 9th the game was scoreless, Freddy Spurgeon lead off with a double off Howard Ehmke. Speaker attempted to push a bunt to third to move him over. The bunt was misplayed by Jimmy Dykes and turned into a double and Spurgeon moved over to third. Both will score on a Joe Sewell Double in a 6 run 9th that lead to a 6-0 Cleveland Victory.

Speaker will finish his career with a record 792 doubles.
