On July 17, 1950– New York  Yankee rookie Whitey Ford wins his first major league game, beating the visiting Chicago White Sox, 4 – 3. Tom Ferrick finishes for New York. Hank Bauer leads the way going 3-3.

Ford goes 7.2 giving up all 3 runs, striking out 3 and walking 3, he will go 9-1 during his Rookie season.
