Brooklyn wins 6 – 5 in 11 innings over Yankees

On October 5, 1952 — In Game 5 of the World Series, Brooklyn wins 6 – 5 in 11 innings over the Yankees when Billy Cox scores the winning run behind an RBI double hit by Duke Snider off Johnny Spain.

Carl Furillo goes airborne, in the bottom of the 11th of game 5 of the ’52 WS, to rob Johnny Mize of the game-tying homer. Mike has earlier hit a 3 run homerun off Carl Erskine.

 

Erskine pitches a complete game including 5 shutout innings to close the game to give Brooklyn a 3-2 Series lead heading back to Ebbets Field.
