On January 31 1992 – The Pittsburgh Pirates sign outfielder Barry Bonds to a one-year contract worth $4.7 million, the largest-ever one-year deal. Bonds will reward the Pirates with his 2nd MVP Award in three seasons and produces one of the finest seasons in Pirates history with a 204 OPS+ and 9.0 WAR.
