in 5 player deal Brad Lidge is dealt to the Phillies

On November 7 , 2007 –Ed Wade strikes a deal with Philadelphia, his former employer. Houston deals closer Brad Lidge and  Eric Bruntlett to the Phillies for outfielder, speedster Michael Bourn, reliever Geoff Geary and minor leaguer Mike Costanzo.

Bourn spent three years at the University of Houston before signing with the Phils. Costanzo is dealt to Baltimore later that winter.

Philadelphia hopes a change of scenery will help Lidge become a dominant closer in the National League again as he was in Houston during the 2004 and 2005 seasons.

Lidge will deliver as promised and retire the last out of the 2008 World Series.
