Detroit manages to take a 1 – 0 lead against Mike Clevinger in the 1st, but in the bottom of the inning, Jay Bruce hits a three-run homer off Buck Farmer and Cleveland nurses that lead until the end of the game. The win also ties the major league record of 21 consecutive wins, set by the 1935 Chicago Cubs.
