Sawyer loses homerun crown after lost homerun in rain out

 

On ,August 2 1952 — at Ebbets Field: After stopping play top 5th due to rain, umps gather around Jackie Robinson as he jaws with Chicago Cubs mgr Phil Cavarretta (44, center), who accused Jackie of “stalling tactics” with Brooklyn down 4-0. Potential loss was washed out & the Dodgers swept DH next day.

 

Also, Hank Sauer hit a homer In the third inning with two on base. The pitcher was Ben Wade. Sauer’s homerun was lost. Sauer ended the season tied for the home run lead with Ralph Kiner with 37.
