On September 29, 1947 — A one-game playoff is held at Los Angeles, CA’s Wrigley Field to determine the Pacific Coast League champions. The Angels’ Clarence Maddern breaks a scoreless tie with a grand slam off San Francisco’s Jack Brewer in the bottom of the 8th, and Larry Barton adds an insurance with a solo blast. Cliff Chambers is the winner of the 5 – 0 shutout.
