Entering the game with two outs and the score tied at 4 in the top of the 8th inning, he immediately proceeds to pick-off the Nationals’ Austin Kearns at first base. He is then lifted for a pinch hitter as the Rockies score a run in the bottom of the frame, and receives credit for the 5 – 4 win. The last pitcher to win a game under similar circumstances was B.J. Ryan, playing for the Orioles on May 1, 2003.
