A’s rookie Jose Canseco become the first major league player with 100 RBI this season

On September 1, 1986 — Oakland A’s 22 year old rookie Jose Canseco goes 4 for 5 and hits his 28th home run to become the first major league player with 100 RBI this season. Oakland defeats New York, 9 – 8. Canseco in August had a 0-40 slump and has 153 strikeouts which is a rookie record with a month left in the season.
