July 28, 1987 Bill Buckner signs with the  California Angels, five days after being released by the Boston Red Sox.

Billy Buck was hitting .273 in Boston at the time of his release, but the Red Sox wanted to make the move to Sam Horn. Buckner hits .306 over the last 57 games of the season for the Angels.

Horn makes a splash in 87 with 14 homeruns but fizzles out quickly.
