Bob Buhl announcement on a 20 win season

February 15, 1957- In a Milwaukee Sentinel article by Lou Chapman, Bob Buhl, an early arrival in spring training camp, predicted he’d win 20 games in the upcoming season. “I would have won 20 easy last year if I hadn’t broken my finger in August.” Buhl came close, posting an 18-7 record in 1957 with a career low 2.74 ERA helping the Braves win the division title. He has 2 starts in the 1957 World Series and went 0-1.

Buhl will never match his 1957 season but he will win 166 games over his career vs 132 loses and have a solid 3.55 ERA. He will make 1 All Star Team and be mention MVP ballets twice.
