On September 15, 1902 — At West Side Grounds Chicago’s infield combo of Joe Tinker, Johnny Evers, and Frank Chance pull off their first double play to back up Carl Lundgren’s 6 – 3 win over the Reds. The Cubs’ legendary double-play combination will be immortalized by the 1910 baseball poem by Franklin Pierce Adams, Baseball’s Sad Lexicon.
