Cleveland Indians trade pitcher Early Wynn for Minnie Minoso

On December 4, 1957, the Cleveland Indians trade pitcher Early Wynn and Al Smith to the Chicago White Sox as part of a four-player deal. In return, the Tribe receives former outfielder fan favorite Minnie Minoso and Fred Hatfield, Minoso who will bat .302 over each of the next two seasons.

Wynn, coming off his first losing season, will rebound with the White Sox, topping the American League in wins and innings next season. The trade is the first for the new Indians’ general manager, Frank Lane.
