On August 21, 1948 — Cleveland’s streak of victories (8), shutouts (4) and scoreless innings (47) ends vs the White Sox in the ninth inning when Bob Lemon walks Pat Seerey and yields home runs to Aaron Robinson and Dave Philley in a 3 – 2 loss to the White Sox.

The scoreless streak by Indians pitchers started with the last three innings of the first game on August 15. The 1903 Cleveland team had had a run of 41 scoreless innings and Baltimore will extend the record in 1974 to 54 innings.
