On October 6, 1991 — David Cone ties a National League mark for strikeouts as he fans 19 Phillies en route to a 7-0 victory in the season’s finale. The Mets right-hander finishes the campaign with a league-leading 241 strikeouts, making it second straight season he has led the circuit.
