On August 3, 1975 — Denny Doyle, acquired from California in June for a player to be named (Chuck Ross) later and cash, extends his hitting streak to 22 games with a first inning home run in the Red Sox’s 6-4 victory over Detroit at Fenway Park. The usually light-hitting infielder will bat .310 for Boston and will play a pivotal role in Boston’s successful pennant drive.
