Dusty Baker, after posting the best record in baseball this season, is named the National League Manager of the Year for the third time

On November 9, 2000 Dusty Baker, after posting the best record in baseball this season, is named by the BBWAA as the National League Manager of the Year. The 51 year-old skipper, who guided the Giants to a 97-65 record, Baker won the award with the Giants in 1993 and 1997. He joins Tony LaRussa, who won the award with the Chicago White Sox in 1993 and the Oakland Athletics in 1988 and 1992 Athletics, as the only three-time winners of the award.
