GO GO Chicago White Sox clinch their first American League pennant in 40 years

On September 22, 1959, the Chicago White Sox clinch their first American League pennant in 40 years. Future Hall of Famer Early Wynn picks up the win in the ā€œGo Goā€ Soxā€™ 4-2 victory over the Cleveland Indians. After the White Sox clinch the pennant, Chicago’s Mayor Richard Daley orders the city air raid sirens to blast. It is the South-siders’ first American League championship since the notorious Black Sox.
