Honus Wagner drives in both runs to beat Christy Mathewson, 2 – 1

On July 26, 1915 — At the Polo Grounds in a reschuelded game from May 24, aging future hall of famers clash as Pittsburgh Pirate Honus Wagner drives in both runs to beat Christy Mathewson, and the New York Giants 2 – 1. Wagner 42 at the time will retire at the end of the 1916 season as one of the best players to ever play major league baseball. Mathewson, will finish the year 8-14 and also retire after the 1916 season.

The Pirates lose the nitecap when the Giants’ Jeff Tesreau tosses a five-hitter to win, 3 – 0.
