Houston’s Darryl Kile no-hits the Mets, winning by a score of 7 – 1.

On September 8, 1993 — retiring the final 17 batters in a row, Houston Astros 24 year-old right-hander Darryl Kile no-hits the Mets in a 7-1 Houston victory at the Astrodome. Jeff McKnight, who had walked, scores New York’s lone run on a wild pitch after advancing to third base on an error. Kile fans Tito Navarro and Chico Walker to finish the game . Ken Caminiti and Andujar Cedeno both slug home runs and each provide a defensive gem in the seventh to preserve the no-hitter.

Mets 3B Butch Huskey becomes the 3rd player in history to make his major league debut on the losing end of a no-hitter. Byron Browne and Don Young of the Cubs did so in Sandy Koufax’s perfect game in 1965.
