In a major trade, the New York Giants get Alvin Dark and Eddie Stanky from the Boston Braves in a swap for Willard Marshall, Sid Gordon, Buddy Kerr and Sam Webb.
December 14, 1949 – In a trade involving future Milwaukee Braves, the New York Giants sent outfielder Sid Gordon and three others to the Boston Braves for Alvin Dark and Eddie Stanky. Gordon was the Milwaukee Braves’ original left fielder and cleanup hitter. Dark finished his 14-year major league career as a Braves utility man.
