On September 7, 1925 — In an A.M.-P.M. doubleheader, the Senators win the morning contest with the A’s, as Walter Johnson tops Lefty Grove, 2 – 1, and goes 3 for 4, the second consecutive game he’s collected three hits. A record crowd of 36,000 watch the A’s drop the afternoon game, 7 – 6, for their 12th straight defeat; they are now nine games in back of Washington.
