On August 17, 1937 — In Cincinnati, the Cardinals beat the Reds, 8-6, in nine innings at Crosley Field. The final out of the two-and-a-half-hour contest is recorded at 12:02 a.m., making it the first time a major league game has been completed after midnight.

Bob Weiland picks up the first win after midnite for the Card’s. Frenchy Bordagaray will have a game, going 4-5 with 5 RBI’s including a 2 run single in 7th that was a difference-maker. Frenchy had only 37 RBI’s all season.
