On September 13, 2006 — In the Padres’ 10-0 rout of Cincinnati at Great American Ball Park, Mike Piazza hits his last home run as a catcher to extend his record to 396, the most ever hit by a major league backstop. The 37 year-old receiver surpassed Carlton Fisk in 2004 to establish the major league mark with his 352nd round-tripper while playing behind the plate for the Mets.
