On March 17, 1946, Jackie Robinson makes his debut for the Montreal Royals of the International League. Robinson’s first appearance for the Royals, the top affiliate of the Brooklyn Dodgers, occurs in an exhibition game at Daytona Beach. A crowd of 3,100 attends the game at City Island Park, which will be renamed Jackie Robinson Stadium in 1990.
