On July 28, 1964, Jim Fregosi of the Los Angeles Angels hits for the cycle in a 3-1 win over the Yankees. Fregosi goes 4-for-4, scores two runs and drives in a pair in support of Dean Chance’s 10th victory. New York’s only score is a Mickey Mantle homer over the CF fence at Chavez Ravine, one of only two hits off Dean Chance. It’s the first homer given up by Chance in 69 innings.

He is the first “Angel” to complete the cycle! Four years later, Fregosi will hit for the cycle again, becoming one of a handful of players to hit for the cycle twice in his career.
