On July 1, 2009 — Jonathan Papelbon, in the Red Sox’ 6-5 victory at Camden Yards, retires the Baltimore batters in order in the 11th inning to become the franchise’s all-time leader in saves. The 28 year-old closer, who surpasses Bob Stanley for the club record, has compiled 133 saves during his four years with the club.
