The fans still show their support for the popular skipper when a response to a newspaper poll indicates the overwhelming choice is to keep the team name as the Naps instead of choosing a new one, which will not happen until they become the Indians following the 1914 season. the 39-year-old will remain a player with the club through the balance of the season, hitting .258, he will move to play out the final 2 years of his career with the Philadelphia A’s. He had his best season playing for the A’s in 1901 when he hit .426, hit a career-high 14 home runs, and scored a remarkable 145 runs in 131 games.
