On August 30, 1951, the New York Yankees acquire veteran pitcher Johnny Sain from the Boston Braves for $50,000 and young righthander Lew Burdette. Sain will help New York win pennants from 1951-1954, while Burdette will go on to win 179 games with the Braves over 13 seasons. In the 1957 World Series, Burdette will haunt his former team, beating the Yankees three times as the Braves claim the championship.
