Phil Niekro makes his final major league appearance

Phil Niekro makes his final major league appearance and is pounded for five runs in three innings in Atlanta’s 15 – 6 loss to the Giants. Niekro, who had been released earlier in the season by Toronto, agreed to pitch one last game for the Braves, the team he spent his first 19 major league seasons with.
