The 27 year-old right fielder of the World Champion A’s, who captured all of the writers’ 24 first-place votes, easily outdistances Oriole right-hander Jim Palmer (22-9, 2.40) and Royals outfielder Amos Otis (.300, 26, 93) the runners-ups for the honor.
