On September 21, 1964 — Returning from a West Coast road trip, the Phillies are greeted at the airport by over 2,000 pennant-fever fans when they arrive in Philadelphia early in the morning. In front of the National League by six and a half games with only 12 games to play, the team will suffer a ten-game losing streak and will not make it to the postseason.
