On January 14 2002 — Slugger Barry Bonds, stating his heart has always been in San Francisco, avoids arbitration by agreeing to a five-year, $90 million deal with the San Francisco Giants. The contract also calls for a 10-year personal service commitment at the end of his playing days. At the time Bonds was 37 years old.

This will be the last contract Bonds signs in his professional career. During this contract, he will break Hank Aaron’s all-time home run record finishing with 762 all-time and win the MVP Award in both 2003 & 2004.
