Pitcher Stu Miller was born on December 26, 1927.

Nicknamed the “Butterfly Man,” he was one of the best relievers in the 1960s, twice winning the Reliever of the Year Award (1961, 1963), when he led the league in saves both years. His best season was (arguably) in 1965 when he had 14 wins, 24 saves, 1.89 ERA, 119 IP in relief, & 0.997 WHIP, finishing 7th in the AL MVP voting. Stu also led the NL with a 2.47 ERA in 1958, was an NL All-Star in 1961, and was a key member of the 1966 World Series champion Baltimore Orioles (18 saves, 2.25 ERA). He is a member of the Orioles Hall of Fame and the San Francisco Giants Wall of Fame.

In his 16-year career (1952-1954, 1956-1968), Miller had 105 wins, 153 saves (3rd all-time at the time of his retirement), 1,164 strikeouts, & 3.24 ERA in 704 games.

Stu passed away in 2015 at the age of 87.
