Darling allows no hits while striking out 16. In the 12th, St. John’s Steve Scafa hits an opposite-field scratch single, then steals second base and third base. The next batter reaches on an error and, when he tries to steal second, Scafa breaks for home, scoring the only run. St. John’s wins, 1 – 0.
