On December 7, 1983 — The Mariners trade 2B Tony Bernazard to the Indians for OF Gorman Thomas and IF Jack Perconte.

Thomas will only play 35 games in 1984 after injuring his shoulder, but he will have a strong 1985 for the Mariners. Perconte will bat .294 for his new club. Bernazard will eventually turn out some good years but will struggle in 1984 hitting .221 including a 0-44 streak during the season.
