On April 30, 1967,
Steve Barber of the Baltimore Orioles held the Detroit Tigers hitless through 8 innings, but had walked 7 hitters and hit two.
He entered the ninth with a 1-0 lead, courtesy of a Sacrifice fly by SS Luis Aparicio in the bottom of the Eighth inning.
He however began by walking both Norm Cash and light hitting Ray Oyler. After a Sac bunt and a foul out to catcher Larry Haney, with two outs, the Lefty got ahead of Mickey Stanley 0-2 before bouncing a pitch four feet in front of home plate and over the head of Haney and allowing the tying run to score. When Barber walked Stanley, re-loading the bases, manager Hank Bauer brought in reliever Stu Miller who induced a ground ball to Aparicio who flipped to Mark Belanger for the force play at second.
The Future 8 time gold glove winner proceeded to drop the ball allowing the go-ahead run to score.
The Orioles lost 2-1 without giving up a single hit.
