The White Sox move to a half game out of first place on the strength of Joel Horlen’s three-hitter, an 8 – 0 whitewash of Cleveland. The Red Sox are in 3rd place, also a half game out, after dropping a 7 – 5 decision to Baltimore. Carl Yastrzemski’s 42nd home run had given the Red Sox a 5 – 4 lead, but a Brooks Robinson home run in the 8th inning won it for the O’s.
