Tony LaRussa walks off

On April 6, 1973 at Wrigley Field on opening day Tony Larussa appeared in his only one game for the Chicago Cubs. He was used as a pinch runner for Ron Santo in the ninth inning after a Glenn Beckett walk, Mike Marshall will enter the game and walk 2 of next 4 batters the last one was to Rick Monday, forced LaRussa in with the winning run and He jumped onto the plate with both feet. The Cubs win 3-2 over the Montreal Expos.

He never played again in any major league game. But in 1979 he became the manager of the Chicago White Sox and he will  manage for 33 years and win 2,738 games, win 3 World Series, 6 pennants, 4 time manager of the year. He will be elected into the Hall of Fame as a manager.
