Tris Speaker streak of 11 consecutive hits ends

 

 

On July 10, 1920 After banging out 11 straight hits, Cleveland Indians outfielder Tris Speaker is stopped by Tom Zachary of Washington. The “Grey Eagle’s” effort establishes a record, which will not be broken until 1938 when Red Sox third baseman Pinky Higgins hits 12 knocks in a row. Speaker will hit .388 for the season.
