Walter OMalley
Walter O’Malley, owner of the Brooklyn Dodgers, wanted to build a domed stadium in Brooklyn with Buckminster Fuller, designer of the geodesic dome. It was to replace Ebbets Field and be where the Barclay Center is now. Robert Moses and New York City denied the project. The rest is history, but imagine if…

“Walter O’Malley and R. Buckminster Fuller peak inside the large scale dome stadium model for the Dodgers in Brooklyn on November 22, 1955. Fuller served as a “guest” lecturer at Princeton University in 1955-56 where the model was produced. O’Malley was intrigued with the concept of a ballpark with year-round events.”
