Jim Bunning becomes the first pitcher since Cy Young to win 100 games in both leagues

On August 11, 1970 — With a 6-5 victory over the Astros, Phillies’ right-hander Jim Bunning becomes the first pitcher since Cy Young to win 100 games in both leagues. During his nine years with the Tigers, the future U.S. Senator compiled a 118-87 record in the American League.
