Exposition Park hosts its first Pirates game

Exposition Park, which opened last year as the home of the Pittsburgh Burghers of the short-lived Players’ League, hosts its first Pirates game, a National League contest that the Bucs lose to Chicago, 7-6. The ballpark located on the north side of the Allegheny River, across from Pittsburgh’s downtown area, will be the team’s home until they move to Forbes Field in 1909.

The injury occurs in the 1st inning after Dunlap walksā€š stealsā€š 2Bā€š andā€š following a singleā€š circles 3B and attempts to return to the bag when he sees he can’t get home. As noted by Bob Schaeferā€š it is the 2nd time that Dunlap has broken a leg in a game: the first occurred on July 5ā€š 1887 when he collided withĀ Sam ThompsonĀ in the 7th inning.
