1922Ā āĀ Morgan G. Bulkeley, first president of theĀ National LeagueĀ and later governor ofĀ ConnecticutĀ and U.S. senator, dies. As president of theĀ Hartford Dark BluesĀ club, Bulkeley presided over the NLās first meeting and headed the league for one year. He will be elected to theĀ Hall of FameĀ inĀ 1937, in spite of his relatively short involvement in baseball.
