Armed with a court injunction preventing police from interfering, they play the first Sunday game ever seen in Philadelphia. A light rain holds the crowd to 10,000, but Lefty Grove sets down the White Sox, 3 – 2, without incident. A court later rules Sunday baseball still illegal; it will be 1934 before that law changes in Philadelphia.

Detroit OF Mickey Stanley plays his 220th straight errorless game and C Bill Freehan picks Paul Blair off third base unassisted. Blair, on third with a triple, strolls too slowly back to the bag after the bat flies out of the hands of Frank Robinson.

Philadelphia C Benito Santiago drives in all his team’s runs with three consecutive home runs in the Phillies’ 6 – 1 win over the Cubs At Wrigley Field. Santiago will hit a homer tomorrow in his first at bat to tie a record for consecutive homers.
