Burleigh Grimes, in his second stint with the Pirates this year, picks up his 270th win, in relief in total 7 HOFers play for the Pirates

On September 10, 1934 — Burleigh Grimes, in his second stint with the Pirates this year, picks up his 270th win, in relief, as the Pirates beat the Giants, 9 – 7. It is the Hall of Famer’s last major league win. Upon his retirement he throws the last legal spitball.

He was joined by – Lloyd Waner, Paul Waner, Fred Lindstrom, Pie Traynor, Arky Vaughan, and Waite Hoyt started for the Pirates, all future Hall of Famers.
