ON May 25, 1941 – In a 10-3 victory over New York at Yankee Stadium, Red Sox left fielder Ted Williams goes 4-for-5 to raise his batting average to over .400 for the first time this season. The ‘Splendid Splinter’ will finish the campaign batting .406.
