On February 18 , 1949  – John Mayberry is born in Detroit, MI. A hot prospect drafted by the Astros, he bats .191 in parts of four seasons in Houston (1968-1971) before being traded away to the American League where he stars for the next eleven years. hitting  243 homeruns and driving in over 800 runs. Mayberry finished 2nd in the MVP voting in 1975.
